Hi, I’m Debbie Dawber the newly appointed Schools’ Worker.

Since November I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the staff and students at Bradworthy, Hartland and Woolsery schools as well as the Methodist and Parish Church ministers to assist in delivering relevant and meaningful religious education through lessons, assemblies and clubs.

As well as working mainly during school hours, I have enjoyed being part of the Hartland Messy Church team and benefited from their knowledge and experience of what’s involved in running such groups each month. There is a lot more to it than you may think!

At Woolsery Primary School I started a Knit for Peace group that met during lunch time on Fridays . This organisation will accept knitted garments or simple squares and then distribute them wherever they are most needed. So if you’re a keen knitter it’s well worth looking them up! I am looking forward to the launch of Messy Church here once we know which day will be best.

The first Sunday in each month has also seen me joining the Breakfast Club at Bradworthy which is a real treat if you’ve not been able to come along yet. It kicks off at 9am with sausage and bacon rolls, toast, tea/coffee on tap plus an uplifting time of worship, what’s not to like? I have to say that the fellowship here is wonderful as there is time to get to know each other in a very informal setting.

My role is steadily developing as I build friendships based on encouraging people to believe that God has a bespoke plan for each of us, that everyone is struggling at different times and that ultimately God is there 24/7 to help each of us to achieve our full potential.
